Hygienic Finishes has a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration which helps us build lasting relationships with clients and their teams.
We focus on resolving potential issues as a team, finding opportunities to add value, and providing innovative solutions. Our proactive teams work with a positive attitude, leading to repeat business from satisfied clients and continued relationships with suppliers. Today, we are the longest-serving contractor for West Herts Teaching Trust, having successfully completed numerous Capital Projects. Notable examples include Phlebotomy at Watford General Hospital, various Theatre upgrades at both Watford General and St Albans City Hospital, improvements to the Paediatric Waiting Area at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, and the development of the new Interventional Radiology Department at Watford General Hospital.
Director Gary Collingwood is the driving force behind Hygienic Finishes. Gary successfully established the company in 2013, building it on a foundation of deep industry knowledge and a commitment to excellence. His vision is powerfully supported by Callum Cronin, a long-standing and highly capable Site Manager, ensuring that leadership and experience are present at every level of project execution.
Our commitment to uncompromising quality and operational flexibility is fundamental to our approach. This is primarily achieved through our strategic decision to directly employ all core personnel. This foundational practice ensures not only superior craftmanship but also the consistent application of our exacting standards across every project. For specialised requirements, we seamlessly integrate expertise from our meticulously vetted and approved supply chain, ensuring that the right skills are deployed when certain tasks demand them.

Our Experience
Our team brings a strong portfolio of industry-recognised certifications, reflecting their high level of skill, professionalism, and commitment to best practice. Key operatives are CSCS registered, verifying our competence and qualifications for working on construction sites, and they possess additional fire safety qualifications recognised across the sector. Furthermore, all our operatives are health and safety trained, recognised by CITB.
Our site team operatives each hold current DBS checks for sensitive public sector environments. They are comprehensively First Aid trained and possess essential Asbestos Awareness certification. Furthermore, many hold SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) where applicable, alongside a diverse range of NVQ certifications, ensuring unparalleled competence and safety across all projects.
These credentials not only ensure quality and compliance but also provide peace of mind that works will be carried out by fully competent and trusted professionals.
“There is always an affable and approachable point of contact, ensuring clear communication throughout each project. Hygienic Finishes takes full accountability for every aspect of their work, guaranteeing that each project is completed to the highest standard. What sets them apart is the active involvement of their Managing Director, Gary, who personally engages with the stakeholders and takes an active interest in each project to ensure that quality is consistently maintained.
His hands-on approach provides an added layer of confidence that the job will meet or exceed expectations.”
